Starz announced that its Emmy-winning Original series ‘Black Sails’ has been greenlit for a third season. The series is created by Jonathan Steinberg (‘Jericho,’ ‘Human Target’) and Robert Levine (‘Touch’) and executive produced by Michael Bay (Transformers, Armageddon, Pearl Harbor) and his Platinum Dunes partners Brad Fuller and Andrew Form, producers on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and The Purge. The ten-episode second season of the authentic high sails drama series, premiering January 24th, 2015 at 9 pm ET/PT on STARZ, follows the most feared pirate of the day, Captain Flint (Toby Stephens), and his men and takes place twenty years prior to Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic ‘Treasure Island.’
‘The incredible world that Jon Steinberg and Robert Levine have created continues to unfold in season two. Flint’s journey is riveting, and around him, Jon and Robert have woven an intricate web of conflict, betrayal, and redemption for the other characters that we believe will keep fans of the show coming back for more,’ said Carmi Zlotnik, managing director of Starz. ‘We think that season three will bring even more of the drama and lore that has made it a hit both in the U.S. and internationally.’
‘Black Sails’ season one set a Starz viewership record for a debuting Starz Original series during its opening weekend in January 2014, established an average of 5.3 million viewers per episode*, and is distributed in about 130 countries and territories worldwide.
The Secret Circle co-star Jessica Parker Kennedy is set to co-star opposite Toby Stephens in Starz’s upcoming pirate drama series Black Sails, executive produced by Michael Bay. The eight-episode series, created by Jon Steinberg and Robert Levine, is set 20 years before the events in Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island and chronicles the adventures of fabled buccaneer Captain Flint (Stephens) and his men. Kennedy, repped by Armada Partners, Gersh and Chad Christopher, will play the role of Max, a French prostitute with a cool swagger that matches her stunning beauty. She recently joined the cast of CW’s 90210 as a recurring.
“The Secret Circle” fans, we’ll start with the bad news: the show is still canceled. But there’s good news too! One of your favorite witches has relocated to a much more mortal zip code on The CW: Jessica Parker Kennedy has signed on for a recurring role on “90210.”
According to Deadline, Kennedy will play Megan, “a girl next door who tells her story in group therapy.”
Wonder which of the gang she’ll be in therapy with. Could it be Silver, who encounters Megan through all of her Braca gene activism? Or maybe it’s Dixon — assuming he survives his car accident (and we’re thinking he will). Perhaps she meets Annie in some sort of sibling support group.
Kennedy joins former “One Tree Hill” actress Lindsey McKeon in joining the CW show for Season 5. As Zap2it first reported, McKeon will first appear in Episode 3 as Suzanne, a mentor for Silver through all her Braca gene awareness activities.
“90210” premieres Monday, Oct. 8 at 9 p.m. on The CW.
